Smart Omega eliminated EVOS SG from the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Southeast Asia Cup 2022 (MSC 2022) playoffs after they cleanly swept their series 3-0.

A Scrupulous First Game

Smart Omega entered the first game with discipline as they played carefully for the first two minutes. The first casualty of the game happened to be Dean “Raizen” Christian Sumagui as he got ambushed by three EVOS players on the bottom lane. Fortunately, Grant “Kelra” Duane Pillas soon took Tristan “Gear” Christopher Nathanael’s life to get one kill on the board for Omega. The reigning MSC champions slowly grabbed the lead as they secured objectives one by one. They played with no unnecessary aggression for the most part, except for that one mistake late in the game that cost Kelra’s first and only demise. In the end, Smart Omega claimed the first game of the series when they finished Game 1 in just under 18 minutes.

Repeating What Worked In Game 2

In Game 2, Smart Omega simply did what they’ve done in Game 1 but with more voracity. Smart Omega repeatedly punished EVOS SG’s numerous miscommunications. This is evident even during the first clash alone as Smart Omega traded three kills for Patrick “E2MAX” James Caidic’s life and a turtle secured by EVOS SG. Smart Omega instinctively avoided EVOS SG’s persistence to instigate team fights, but whenever they bite the bait they come out on top. They ended the 15-minute game with a whopping 23 kills over EVOS SG’s mere 7 kills.

Meanwhile, Joshua “Ch4knu” Mangilog took home the Game 2 MVP honor as his deathless Chou recorded a 2/0/14 KDA.

Sweeping EVOS SG After A Long Game 3

Smart Omega had a different approach for the third game as they went on a composition that consisted of Cecilion (E2MAX), Esmeralda (Renz “Renzio” Errol Salonga Cadua), Wanwan (Kelra), Ling (Raizen), and Rafaela (Ch4knu). Despite predictions that this would have been an easy game for Smart Omega, the game went the distance as EVOS SG defended with all their might. Raizen tried to end the game under the 15-minute mark but was instead shut down by Basil Lim “Seilah” Dao Ze. The game was delayed enough to have two more Lord contests but Smart Omega ultimately persevered and won the game in 23 minutes and 39 seconds.

Having survived their first round in the lower bracket, Smart Omega retains the chance to defend their MSC title while EVOS SG exits the tournament with a 7th-8th place finish.
