The newly crowned champions, consisting of Coach Karl Luigi “Coach Giee” Barrientos with professional players Jonard Cedrix “Demonkite” Caranto, Nathanael “Nathzz” Estrologo, Eman “Emann” Sangco, Arvie “Aqua” Calderon, Dylan Aaron “Light” Catipon, and Dexter “Exort” Martinez, went from ‘Kingslayers’ to kings themselves. As the MPL-PH S9 champions, RSG PH was certainly considered a contender. Despite this, more eyes were on the other PH representative team Smart OMEGA, seeing as a good majority of the defending MSC champions were on it.

RSG PH’s journey to the top was everything but a smooth one. During the Group Stage, they remained undefeated and was able to not drop a single game. However, they started to show cracks in their games at the playoffs, wherein they dropped a game against Myanmar representatives Falcon Esports. Their next match was against Malaysia’s own Orange Esports, which RSG PH made short work of. In the Upper Bracket final, RRQ Hoshi defeated RSG PH and forced them to meet Smart OMEGA in the Lower Bracket Finals. With all Filipinos on their toes, the match went the distance, with the eventual champions on top after a 3-2 win.

The grand finals against RRQ Hoshi was RSG PH’s reckoning, and they showed the millions of people watching why the Kingslayers deserved to be crowned Kings.
