AcadArena Alliance Games CODM Playoffs Day 2: DLSU books ticket to CONQuest 2022
De La Salle University’s (DLSU) Viridis Arcus has booked their ticket to CONQuest 2022 for AcadArena’s Alliance Games grand finals offline LAN tournament after defeating archrivals Ateneo De Manila University’s (ADMU) LG Altair last weekend.
Meanwhile, FIT Dasig of Far Eastern University (FEU) scored the upset of the weekend by overcoming heavy-favorites VPR Eclipse of College of Saint Benilde (CSB) while PUP’s Pylon Phantoms dispatched MCL’s Malayan Warlocks to boot them out of the tournament.
Viridis Arcus (3) – LG Altair (0)
In the first match featuring the La Salle-Ateneo rivalry, Viridis Arcus showed just how dominant they are so far this tournament, sweeping LG Altair 3-0. The squad in green won in Hardpoint, Search and Destroy and Control to complete yet another 3-0 match. According to AcadArena, the last time Viridis Arcus lost a map was way back in January, in a Search and Destroy game against LG Altair themselves. This sweep allowed them to extend their impressive streak to six months of not losing a single map in a match.
With the win, DLSU and Viridis Arcus will be going to the grand finals in CONQuest 2022 offline LAN where they will be playing for the title.
FIT Dasig (3) – VPR Eclipse (1); Pylon Phantoms (3) – Malayan Warlocks (1)
In the second match, FEU’s FIT Dasig obtained an upset against CSB’s VPR Eclipse, 3-1. The latter, who went into their matchup as huge favorites courtesy of the casters’ predictions, lost to a hungry and determined FIT Dasig squad. The team from FEU scored wins in Hardpoint and Search and Destroy while losing in Control. FIT Dasig and FEU then finished up the match in the 4th game of Hardpoint to move on to the next round while dropping erstwhile tournament favorites VPR Eclipse and CSB out of the competition.
Lastly, PUP’s Pylon Phantoms made quick work of MCL’s Malayan Warlocks, 3-1. The Pylon Phantoms won games in Hardpoint, Control, and another one in Hardpoint to secure their victory. Had it not for a violation committed in the second game of Search and Destroy, PUP could’ve swept MCL outright. However, one of PUP’s players used a banned perk resulting in their disqualification from that game.
With both of their wins, FIT Dasig and the Pylon Phantoms will move on to the next round to face each other on Day 3 of the Alliance Games Playoffs next weekend. The winner of the matchup will play against Ateneo’s LG Altair, with the second and last slot of the grand finals at stake.
