Imagine hearing you officially passed a licensure board exam while playing VALORANT. That’s exactly what happened to Earl Joshua “EJ” Evangelista, a recent BS Mechanical Engineering graduate from the University of Santo Tomas.

Originally posted on the popular Facebook group Valorant PH, EJ uploaded a video where his sister surprised him as she barged into his room in the middle of a game to tell him he passed the licensure exam for mechanical engineers.

“I was shocked and confused at the same time as I thought that there was an emergency,” EJ told Esports Inquirer in an interview. “I was speechless to the point that all I could do was yell.”

As expected, the video garnered tons of congratulations with some witty comments from the viewers. Here are some of the best bits:

FEATURED STORIES

EJ started playing VALORANT back in 2020 during Episode 1 Act 2 as a coping mechanism during the height of the pandemic.

“I’ve been playing VALORANT for 2 years. I started playing during the height of the pandemic. [VALORANT ] really helped me to cope with the current situation at that time,” EJ revealed. “VALORANT played a big role in our university days, especially during the pandemic, when seeing my friends in person was not possible since we all lived in different provinces. The game served as our bonding activity, particularly after exams, where our stress levels are really high (although VALORANT still gives us a different type of stress).”

This wasn’t the first time EJ basked in the limelight as one of his friends also went viral earlier this year, it even attracted the attention of Kyedae.

“Right before graduation, one of my friends suggested creating a TikTok video of us being in-game then transitioning to all of us wearing our togas. We honestly didn’t expect the [number] of impressions we got because for us the video was a way to commemorate the time we shared playing the game and to celebrate our graduation. It was so heartwarming that the VALORANT community, not just in the Philippines, enjoyed our video and other friend groups also wanted to recreate it. Even Kyedae liked our video on TikTok and, since most of my friends are Kyedae fans, imagine their hype after knowing,” EJ told us in detail.

EJ already has a pending job offer where he will be starting in September. As such, he aims to play VALORANT just a bit more before work starts for him.

“I am playing VALORANT as much as I can until the time for me to work comes. Though, I’m sure I would still continue to enjoy playing [VALORANT ] during my free time since I have grown to love this game which serves as a hobby and stress reliever.”

As of this article’s writing, the original video has garnered 31K reactions, 1.2K comments, and 6.1K shares on Facebook and has since been shared across all other social media platforms.
