Filipino Dota 2 teams dominate Day 1 of Asia Pacific Predator League 2022 Grand Finals
It was a routine day of dominating the Asia Pacific region for Filipino Dota 2 teams on the opening day of the Asia Pacific Predator League 2022 Grand Finals held in Tokyo, Japan.
A total of four Filipino teams flew over to Tokyo to compete in the first large-scale Dota 2 LAN held in Japan in years. Household names TNC Predator and Execration made their way into the event through direct invite while Polaris Esports and GrindSky Esports qualified courtesy of their Top 2 finish in the Philippine Qualifiers held last September. Execration and Polaris started their tournament runs in the second round.
All matches in the Predator League Finals are best-of-one with the exception of the grand final, which opens up clear paths for unfavored teams to score a dramatic upset. Most of the games held today, however, went according to the script.
This year’s Predator League started strong ! Here is a recap of day 1. What was your favorite match of the day?

TNC opened their campaign with a comfortable win over Singaporean squad LaHee to set up an all-Filipino clash with Execration. TNC emerged victorious in the tightly-contested affair but would eventually fall to the lower bracket after succumbing to a GrindSky comeback in the third round. GrindSky, on the other hand, secured their upper-bracket final spot by defeating Mongolian team Lilgun, Australian squad Boonz+Goonz, and then TNC. Going up against GrindSky tomorrow for a spot in the grand final are Polaris who are fresh from victories over India’s Revengers and Southeast Asian stack Chubby Boiz.
The Asia Pacific Predator League 2022 Grand Finals resumes tomorrow, 10:00 AM Philippine time for lower bracket action.
