Pokémon content creator and 2016 Pokémon Video Game Championships (VGC) World Champion Wolfe “Wolfey” Glick plans to open a real-life Pokémon gym in New York.

First leaked in one of his streams, Wolfey’s real-life gym, Wolfe Glick’s Midtown Gym, is a live one-day event set to be held on December 10, 2022, at P448’s 5th Avenue store in New York.
The gym’s format will be played on Pokémon Scarlet and Violet using the current VGC ruleset. Successful gym challengers will then receive a special gym badge and other exclusive giveaway prizes.
Besides him, fellow VGC competitors Aaron “Cybertron” Zheng, James Baek, and Aaron Traylor will also be present to battle challengers. Wolfey will also apparently sport a monotype team, which means he will only use a single type for all of his Pokémons.
According to Wolfey, this will be his first in-person event and the battles in the gym may be streamed live on his streaming channels. Moreover, a dedicated YouTube video will be posted once the event concludes. If this event proves to be a success, Wolfey would reinvest its profit into bringing similar events like Wolfe Glick’s Midtown Gym in the future.
As of this article’s writing, the event signup has reached 192 attendees and only a limited amount of people will be accepted as per Wolfey’s announcement. For more information on the event, you can check out the official event page here.
