Puggers, Sky Encore Esports, Abaddon Abyss, and Gamelab Alpha, ascend to the group stage after climbing the two-week open qualifiers of VALORANT Challengers League Philippines (VCL PH): Split 1.

On Day 7 of Week 2, the unsigned Puggers upset Sanguine Rebels (SR) Dragons 2-0 to claim the first spot from the VCL PH Open Qualifiers. The quintet of newcomers proved themselves capable of handling the SR Dragons, whose team was composed of familiar names such as former Talon Esports Gabrielle “GabbyDiz” Dizon, DLSU’s Viridis Arcus Derrick “Realist” Ong, and former SV Empire player Larce “S1000” Reyes. Puggers took Breeze 13-7 thanks to their impressive 9-3 first half as attackers, and eventually ended it on Haven 13-8 despite being the SR Dragons’ map pick.

Meanwhile, Sky Encore Esports defeated ATHENS APOLLO in a flawless 2-0 sweep. Composed of VCT-hardened veterans such as Philip “Aryu” Vergara and Francis Danison “Rabbet” Buñag, Sky Encore taught ATHENS APOLLO the difference between them in terms of VALORANT experience, by besting them in Pearl 13-9 and dominating in Bind 13-4 to close out the series.

Continuing the action on Day 8 of Week 2, it was Abaddon Abyss that took the SR Dragons out of the tournament by sweeping them 2-0. Climbing from the lower bracket of the open qualifiers right from the start, the Bisaya squad showed flashy plays which eventually led to their victory, going 13-4 on Ascent and closing it out on Bind 13-10.

Lastly, Gamelab Alpha continued the sweeping streak of the livestreamed matches as they scored 2-0 against the fallen ATHENS APOLLO. Gamelab Alpha dominated both games and won with massive margins, going 13-4 in Game 1 at Pearl and 13-5 in Game 2 at Icebox.

With their respective wins, Puggers, Sky Encore Esports, Abaddon Abyss, and Gamelab Alpha all proceed to the group stage of VCL PH Split 1 where they will join the invited teams NAOS Esports, Oasis Gaming, Stream Raiders Nacague, and Action PH.
