E-Palarong Pambansa Finalizes Game Lineup After Controversial Poll
E-Palarong Pambansa finalized and released their game lineup after a controversial public poll for their multi-esports tournament circuit.
After initially canceling the poll, here are the games that made the cut:
- Mobile Games
- League of Legends: Wild Rift
- Call of Duty: Mobile
- Mobile Legends: Bang Bang
- PC Games
- League of Legends
- VALORANT
“Our team carefully considered popularity, accessibility, player base, and platform compatibility when selecting these games,” E-Palarong Pambansa stated in their announcement.
Before it, E-Palarong Pambansa originally released a poll to determine what games the majority of Filipino esports athletes want. However, as per one of their posts, they found out that there was an attempt at artificial manipulation of page reactions that constituted a vote in the polls.
Thereafter, they soon released an official statement regarding the matter, and their investigation accused both PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds PC and mobile titles having had the majority of their votes boosted by suspected bot accounts. However, a quick look at PUBG Mobile’s reaction votes will reveal that the majority of the votes did not come from said suspected bot accounts (if there were ever at all in the first place), but the same can’t be said for the PC title.
As such, the cancellation of the poll saw outrage amongst certain gaming communities, most especially the local League of Legends: Wild Rift amateur scene where a lot of upset players called for a boycott and reporting of the E-Palarong Pambansa page despite originally leading the polls and the issue at hand wasn’t about them.
Furthermore, the cancellation of the poll saw an uproar of accusations for E-Palarong Pambansa wanting to include MLBB even though the game wasn’t supposed to be part of the lineup given it performed poorly during the polls.
Despite that, E-Palarong Pambansa has stated that they value the support of the different gaming communities from the country and “are taking steps to prevent similar issues in the future while continuing to work towards creating opportunities for Filipino gamers.”
