After spending the last two weeks losing Gen.G and Rex Regum Qeon, the Adobo Gang finally found their groove and proceeded with a 2-0 victory versus the still-winless DetonatioN FocusMe.
“I think it was gonna be a fun match because [I’m] expecting the Korean Jett to be playing in the server with me,” Jayvee “DubsteP” Paguirigan described the matchup in the post-match interview.
Speaking of the two Jett mains, DubsteP and Park “Seoldam” Sang-min (박상민) was pitted against each other right at the get-go. Both DubsteP and Seoldam managed to top frag for their respective teams for Game 1 on Ascent, with the Filipino Jett recording 28/15/4 while the Korean Jett got a respectable 21/21/3. Unfortunately, the battle of the Jetts only happened for one game as DubsteP switched back to Killjoy for Game 2 on Haven.
Regardless, Team Secret has had a fantastic performance against DFM on their fight night.
Their first game on Ascent saw the Filipino squad go 13-11 against the Japanese-South Korean squad. Starting with a thrifty win in Round 4, Team Secret went for a five-round win streak and eventually ended the first half tied 6-6.
After halftime, DubsteP went for an Ace on the second pistol round in order to shut down DFM’s early aggression on A site.
However, DFM managed to keep it close as the game was mostly tied for the most part thanks to each team’s respective round-win streaks. Luckily, Secret managed to defuse the spike after a shaky retake attempt in Round 24 thanks to Jeremy “Jremy” Cabrera’s Lockdown detaining Yoshitaka “Anthem” Enomoto just in the nick of time.
For the second game in Haven, Secret thrashed DFM as they won the game 13-8.
After a 2-2 start, DubsteP’s impressive Judge play in Haven’s garage resulted in a 4K that could’ve been another Ace if it weren’t for Seoldam running for his life to deny it. Instead, it was Seoldam who recorded an Ace this game as he got one in Round 18 in what could’ve been the best Jett highlight reel of the tournament.
With their playoff dreams still alive, Team Secret will face yet another Japanese squad in ZETA Division next week, which will be then followed by matches against T1, DRX, and Global Esports in the upcoming weeks after that.
