Blacklist dominates China’s SPG to open CDSI 2023
The Philippines’ own Blacklist International opened its CODM Summer Invitational (CDSI) 2023 campaign on a high note after making quick work of China’s Standpoint Gaming (SPG), 3-0.
The reigning Garena Masters 4 champions won three straight games against the Chinese side in a new format based on CDM rules. Despite that, Blacklist won handily in Search and Destroy at Express (9-3), Hardpoint at Summit (250-173), and Control at Raid (3-0). Blacklist won all three games even without 2021 CODM World champion Averson “Skerd” Salaya.
The new format in the CDSI exhibits a move from the typical Hardpoint-Search and Destroy pattern. It now features Search and Destroy to be the first game mode, then followed by Hardpoint. Moreover, Search and Destroy has a 9-round winning point compared to the usual 7-round wins.
Furthermore, CDSI also showcases a new way to determine map picks and bans — 2v2 gunfight. Players from both teams send two players to fight it out and whoever wins gets rewarded to choose/pick maps first.
CDSI is a regional tournament featuring MSP (Malaysia, Singapore, Philippines), China, and Japan’s best CODM teams.
Up next for Blacklist is a match against fellow MSP team ALMGHTY from Singapore. Matches can be watched live on Garena CODM’s Facebook page and YouTube channel respectively.
