After falling to LOUD in the upper brackets, FNATIC met up with their fellow EMEA representatives FUT Esports in the first round of the knockout stage in the playoffs. In the end, it was FNATIC who will continue their playoff dreams alive as they swept FUT 2-0.
Having had a 100% win rate on the map thus far, FNATIC continued their dominance on Split as they overpowered FUT 13-5. Despite a very close game, FNATIC finished the series on Haven with a 13-9 scoreline.
Emir “Alfajer” Beder, who was, at that point, the winningest Turkish player to have ever played VALORANT, faced his homeland opponents valiantly, top-fragging in both games as he recorded 19/9/2 as Cypher on Split and twenty-six kills as Killjoy on Haven.
Meanwhile, the Chinese faceoff between EDward Gaming and Bilibili Gaming (BLG) ended in EDG’s success as they claimed the series 2-1.
At the start, it seemed like EDG was destined to be the clear-cut winner of the faceoff as they dominated the first game on Bind 13-4. Unfortunately, EDG couldn’t close the series on a sweep as BLG pulled off a miracle on the second game in Split as BLG took the win on overtime, 15-13. Tied 1-1, EDG took the series at the end as they finished the third game on Haven 13-10.
With today’s results, FNATIC and EDG will have to wait for the outcomes of the upper bracket semifinals. FNATIC will face the loser between DRX and Evil Geniuses while EDG will battle it out against the loser between LOUD and Paper Rex.
