The GD Studio to Take Over Management of Dreamleague
In an announcement made over Twitch stream, James “2GD” Harding said that The GD Studio will be taking over management for the remainder of the Asus Dreamleague Season 2 amid heavy criticisms on the league’s organization and administration of matches.
With the announcement, the remainder of Season 2 will now be managed and broadcasted by The GD Studio and will move away from its previous method of management under DreamHack.
The announcement comes on the heels of a similar shake-up within the DreamHack organization. As of Oct. 24, 2014, Marcus Lindmark is now the CEO of DreamHack after replacing former CEO Robert Ohlén who has led the company since 2011. Lindmark, who has been with the company since 2007, was placed as the new head of the company as part of an internal reorganization bid — the result of months of discussion among the organization’s board on the need for change within the leadership of the company.
In a statement released by DreamHack, the company stated that the decision to remove Ohlén stems from a lack of confidence.
“At the end of the day its about the faith and confidence internally for Robert Ohlén as CEO was missing. DreamHack has had great development and growth with Robert as CEO but we’re sure that in order to continue development we needed these structural changes that have now happened [sic],” the statement read.
DreamHack reiterated however that all events under the company will continue amid its corporate reshuffle. As such, the reins of Dreamleague Season 2 has been passed to the hands of 2GD and his staff.
According to 2GD, he will step down from caster and move into the role of project manager for the remainder of Dreamleague. Popular Twitch streamer Wagamama will take over his spot as caster and commentator alongside Andy “Draskyl” Stiles and David “Luminous” Zhang.
