Google vs Amazon: YouTube Launches its Own Video Game Streaming Site
After Google lost a deal to Amazon last year, Google plunges into the video game industry and will launch its own video game streaming site this Thursday.
Google was supposed to acquire Twitch.tv, one of the biggest video game streaming site, but due to antitrust complications the deal didn’t push through. The acquisition went to Amazon and the company was able to seal the deal for $970 million (P45.3 billion~).
YouTube Gaming will be the “go-to destination for anything and everything gaming”. Everyone can watch live streams of their favorite games or start streaming themselves.
As added feature, viewers will be able to watch replays or rewind streams. YouTube Gaming also categorizes the user’s dashboard which allows them to easily see videos of their favorite games. According to sources, it can potentially be the biggest competitor of Twitch.tv.
YouTube Gaming will be available in Android phone, iOS app and in any country where YouTube is available.
