Moonduck Studio & Agency, a newly formed Dota 2 coverage organization, introduces a new game mode for Dota 2: Elimination Mode.

Elimination Mode has the same mechanics as Captains Draft but with a twist. Once a hero is picked in a game, they will no longer be eligible to be played again in the next match. Players can only play a hero once in a series. The same goes for the banned heroes. Heroes can no longer be played throughout the game series once it is banned.

Players then have to resort to choosing less played heroes such as Elder Titan or Batrider. The game mode will test the players versatility and the ability to adapt as options became limited.

On September 17, Moonduck will hold its first event that will use the Elimination Mode. Eight teams, four from the European region and four from the North American region, will compete in the tournament for over $10,000 (P460,000~) prizepool. Participating teams will battle in a best of three series and teams that will advance in the grand finals will be compete in a best of five series.

However, due to schedule conflicts with Major League Gaming (MLG), some teams were unable to confirm their participation in the tournament. The organization came up with a solution that the first teams that will be eliminated from MLG will secure a spot in the Elimination Mode. The MLG event will be on September 15-16.
