The Manila Major: Finals Starter Pack
After multiple days of heated competition, the largest eSports event in Philippine history is down to only 3 teams. Out of these, only one will take home the Reaver trophy and over $1,000,000.
For those not up-to-date with the happenings at the Philippines’ largest eSports event, here’s what you need to know about the last day of the Manila Major.
Catch Up
In the Lower Bracket Quarter-Finals, Korea’s last hope MVP Phoenix (MVP) was knocked out by China’s LGD Gaming (LGD). Despite taking a game of Zhang “xiao8” Ning’s long-term team, they were unable to fully take the series and were eliminated at a 5th place finish.
Going back into the Upper Bracket Finals, a runback of EPICENTER: Moscow happened in the form of Newbee vs OG. Losing the first game in a relatively one-sided manner, OG soon managed to take 2 quick games off one of the favorites going into the tournament, assuring them a spot in the Grand Finals.
With both LGD and Team Liquid (Liquid) being the last 2 teams remaining from a heated Lower Bracket, they faced off in said bracket’s Semi-Finals. In a 2-0 series that was anything but boring, Liquid secured themselves a Top 3 finish while also eliminating LGD at 4th.
