Groups for CS:GO’s The World Championships Revealed, Philippines to Second Round of Qualifiers

After the announcement of the rosters for the national teams that will take part in this year’s The World Championships (TWC) for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO), e-Frag, the organizers of the tournament, have revealed the format for this year’s Asian Qualifiers.

This year’s Asian Qualifiers are divided into four phases, with the first two legs consisting of best-of-three matchups in order to determine which teams will go to the main group stage.

Afterwards, the group stage will be done in a double-elimination format, with all matches to be done in a best-of-one format except for the deciding series, which will be a best-of-three match. The top two teams of each group will go on to the playoffs, where the winner will represent Asia at The World Championships.

Philippines is grouped up with Malaysia, Singapore and India in the second round of the qualifiers. They will face four teams who will emerge from the first round of the qualifiers.

In the main group stage, Vietnam, China, Indonesia and Thailand are all waiting for their respective opponents. These countries will face the winners of the second round of the Asian Qualifiers.

The World Championships will be held on October 12-6 later this year at Belgrade, Serbia. The main event will feature a $100,000 (~P46 million) prize pool.

Last year, the Philippines was unable to get to the main event after being unable to beat Indonesia in their group. Though they were able to win against Nepal, the team was not able to secure the necessary number of points in order to get to the LAN final.
