IESF 2014 World Championships Recap

Today is the 3rd day of the 6th International Electronic Sports Federation World Championships in Baku, Azerbaijan, and eSports Inquirer brings a quick recap of the events that have happened throughout the day.

Firstly, the female Starcraft 2 world champion has been crowned: Ma “Mayuki” Xue from China beats Niina “Soyhi” Kahela with a score of 3-2.

Secondly, as of press time, the two finalists for the Starcraft 2 category have been determined, and it will be Sweden versus Korea in the finals, along with Russia versus Romania in the third-place decider match.

In the first semi-final matchup, Anton “Zanster” Dahlström, hailing from Sweden, beats the Russian representative Artem “sLivko” Garavtsov with a score of 2-0.

As for the second semi-final matchup, Joo “Zest” Sung Wook of Korea wins against Romania’s Silviu “NightEnD” Lazar with a 2-0 result.

Meanwhile in Dota 2, Finland prevails over Georgia with a 2-0 score, earning the Finns a respectable 3rd place in the tournament.

Tomorrow, the Dota 2 grand finals match will be played between China and Romania. It is important to note that the Romanians have pulled an upset against the Chinese in the group stages. The Chinese have been beaten by a Meepo pick that helped the Romanians get back into the game after a huge early deficit.
