NBA Announces Twitch as Official Streaming Partner for USA Basketball
The National Basketball Association announced on Tuesday, August 6, that Amazon’s Twitch platform would be its exclusive digital livestreaming partner for USA Basketball events for 2020 onward.
Kicking off the deal later this month will be the men’s USA Basketball exhibition games in preparation for September’s FIBA World Cup in China. Following this up are the training camps for USA Basketball’s FIBA World Cup rosters, select USA Basketball 3×3 games, and the 2020 Nike Hoops Summit.
NBA and Twitch are no strangers to one another, with this agreement being an extension of their existing relationship. The NBA G League and NBA 2K League were broadcasted on the platform, as will the upcoming Jr. NBA Global Championship.
USA Basketball is the governing body of American basketball, fielding both men’s and women’s rosters to represent the country at international events. The NBA handles marketing, media, and partnerships regarding both aspects for the organization.
Twitch is a livestreaming platform founded in 2011 and currently owned by Amazon, Inc. All events streamed as part of this agreement will be on the NBA’s official Twitch channel.
