Liquid Spoil LGD’s Redemption Arc; Move on to Grand Finals to Face OG
After losing to OG in the Upper Bracket Final, PSG.LGD planned to exact their revenge on Notail and gang on a bigger stage: the Grand Finals. The Chinese team, however, had to overcome the unbeaten Team Liquid before getting their shot at redemption.
The tie started off perfectly for LGD as they trounced the TI7 champions in the first game despite Yang “Chalice“‘ Shenyi’s Centaur Warrunner struggling early on. This result meant Liquid were no longer unbeaten, and PSG.LGD had one foot into the Grand Finals. Unfortunately, the TI8 runners-up failed to close out the second game and Liquid were quick to capitalize on their mistakes. Liquid turned the tides to their favor to push a deciding game three.
PSG.LGD remained confident in themselves by drafting Shadow Fiend for Lu “Somnus” Yao and Xu “fy” Linsen on his signature Rubick. But that confidence was quick to wither away when Liquid started knocking on their top barracks after 17 minutes. Wang “Ame” Chunyu’s Faceless Void was heavily countered by Maroun “GH” Merhej’s Winter Wyvern as the Chinese side could do little to stop Liquid’s growing map and networth advantage. Liquid completed the comeback 36 minutes into the game 3.
Liquid will be facing off against the defending champions OG in The International 2019 Grand Final. PSG.LGD, on the other hand, are forced to put their revenge plans on hold for another year.
