TNC Predator are back to winning ways after taking down BOOM Esports 3-2 to win ESL One Thailand: Asia. This marks their first championship win in the pandemic-induced online league era and their first title since winning the MDL Chengdu Major.

The two teams faced each other twice prior to the grand final, with TNC sweeping BOOM 2-0 in both the group stages and the upper bracket finals. Their third encounter resulted in a closer series but the outcome was the same.

BOOM got a dream start by taking game 1 thanks to Randy Muhammad “Dreamocel” Sapoetra’s unstoppable Terrorblade.

He could not, however, emulate Amer “Miracle” al-Barkawi’s Arc Warden throne defense antics as BOOM succumbed to the sheer damage output of TNC’s Drow Ranger-centered strategy in game 2.

Kim “Gabbi” Villafuerte turned up with some huge Chronosphere plays to give TNC the 2-1 lead and bring them a game away from winning the series.

Rafli Fathur “Mikoto” Rahman’s Outworld Devourer was a cut above the rest and helped BOOM push the series to a deciding game 5.

Armel Paul Tabios’ took an early gold lead on his Magnus and never looked back, snowballing into the midgame and wrapping up the title after 32 minutes.

The final tournament standings are:

  1. TNC Predator – $50,000 USD
  2. BOOM Esports – $25,000 USD
  3. Fnatic – $15,000 USD
  4. Neon Esports – $10,000 USD
