El Clasico: BREN Esports vs Cignal Ultra
Opening Week 4 was a match-up between two teams whose histories go back to the beginnings of the league itself. The two orgs’ paths have gone very differently, with BREN having built up their empire as one of the most consistently strong teams in the league, while Cignal look to remind the fans of their storied history with their return to the league this season.
Despite BREN being the favorites coming into the match, that didn’t stop Cignal from putting up a fight. They stayed close in Game 1, with a draft inclined for skirmishes and teamfights. Aggressive plays helped them get early kills but despite their strong teamplay, BREN managed to overcome the deficits. Once again Karltzy’s Yi Sun-Shin nabbed MVP with 5 Kills, 10 Assists, and only 2 Deaths, and a game-high 99k damage dealt.
In Game 2, despite Cignal (12) keeping up with BREN (17) in kills, the latter’s superior objective control gave them the advantage. 9 Orange Buffs to 1, 8 Purple Buffs to 3, 1 Lord to nil, 2 Turtles to 1, and 10 Towers to 1, BREN dominated Cignal and skyrocketed to a 10k gold lead and the win.
Halfway There: How The Season Is Shaping Up
We are halfway through season six and playoffs are only 4 weeks away. At the middle of the season how are the teams shaping up?
As expected, BREN (6-0) and Aura (6-1) lead the standings and sit atop their respective groups. Although anything can happen, these two teams look to be in their best form and may ride through the rest of the season with ease.
Group A’s Blacklist International (4-2) shot up to the #2 spot after winning three straight matches, including big wins against Execration (3-3) and ONIC (4-2), who both currently sit at #3 in their groups. Nexplay (2-4), after an explosive debut, are on a worrying trend as they lose three straight games and sit at #4, just above Blue Fire (0-7) who are still looking for their first win.
In Group B, the battle for the #2 spot is currently in the hands of Omega (4-3) and Onic (4-2). Cignal Ultra (2-4) look to bounce back in the second half of the season, while BSB (1-6) try to sneak in a few more wins to avoid relegation.
