SwordArt Signs $6M 2-Year Contract with TSM
After his underdog run at Worlds 2020, SwordArt will be moving over to North America for a $6 million 2-year contract with Team SoloMid.
Hu “SwordArt” Shuo-Chieh, the former support of Suning, will be joining PowerofEvil and Spica in the team’s confirmed roster for the 2021 season. The roster move comes after the organization’s 0-6 run in the Worlds 2020 Group Stage.
Thus far, Team SoloMid has let Sergen “Broken Blade” Çelik , Vincent “Biofrost” Wang, and Erik “Treatz” Wessén in the off-season. Furthermore, the off-season saw North American hall-of-famers Søren “Bjergsen” Bjerg and Yilliang “Doublelift” Peng retire from professional play altogether.
SwordArt’s arrival alongside Bjergsen and Doublelift’s retirement heralds a new age of League of Legends in the North American scene. Team SoloMid reclaimed the LCS championship in the 2020 Summer split after years of coming short in the playoffs.
SwordArt will be bringing his breadth of veteran experience to North America and hope to elevate the region. With Bjergsen now in a coaching position, TSM is hopeful for the team’s performance over the next few years. Follow all the action starting in 2021 as players such as SwordArt, Luka “Perkz” Perković, and Barney “Alphari” Morris make their way to North America.
