Keeping The Momentum Going
Blacklist International continued their hot streak this week, beating Execration and Laus Playbook, both 2-0. With OhMyV33nus being the focus of their enemies’ bans, a strategy that’s come to be known as “Hack-A-V33nus,” the other members were free to reign chaos. Edward, in particular, who was recognized as the MPL MVP of the Week, had stellar performances on Benedetta, Paquito, and X.Borg.
Regarded as one of the scariest teams this season due to their drafting, coach BON CHAN commended the other members of the team for their contributions when it comes to picks and bans. “Kung akala niyo ako lang yung nag d-draft, kaming lahat nag d-draft pero si DEX STAR at si Vee mga katuwang ko, and napaka-bright ng mga ideas nila.” (If you thought I did all the drafting, the whole team has their say, but DEX STAR and Vee help out a lot.”
Turning It Around
After opening the season with a 3 game losing streak, defending MPL and M2 champions BREN Esports became the subject of worry amongst fans. Despite a heated matchup against Execration in Day 3, things started to look up as BREN were able to take a close 2-1 win. When asked about the team’s mindset coming in to the match, coach Duckey mentioned that the team had a wake-up call, a reset after their third straight loss:
“Last night after nung loss namin versus Aura PH, medyo mahaba yung naging usapan namin about change of mindset, change sa disiplina, mga bagay na kailangan namin pagtuunan ng pansin … Right now bumabalik kami sa pace namin, binabalik yung sense of motivation, and luckily mukhang bumabalik na siya.”
(Last night after our loss versus Aura PH, we had a long discussion about change of mindset, change in discipline, things we need to focus on … Right now we’re returning to our pace, our sense of motivation, and luckily it looks like it’s coming back.”
