Tamagotchi Releases New Star Wars R2-D2 Edition Tamagotchi
The classic interactive virtual pet of the ’90s, Tamagotchi, will be releasing its first-ever Star Wars collaboration featuring R2-D2.

With classic Tamagotchis, players of the game train, clean, and take care of their virtual pet. The only difference this time is that players are going to take care of the famous Star Wars droid!

Loaded with lots of interactive experiences, fans will be able to train R2-D2 to master 19 different skills. The experience comes with two confirmed mini-games, including firefighting and Dejarik (a.k.a. holochess). Players can also unlock seven more mini-games that are yet to be revealed. If R2-D2’s neglected for too long, Jawas may come to take Artoo away.
According to Takayoshi Oyama, a manager at the Business Management Team of Bandai, an epic Star Wars collaboration was something they always wanted to be a part of.
“Star Wars has proven to be a timeless franchise and one that fans are eager to continue exploring, which makes it an absolute thrill to be able to incorporate it into the Tamagotchi experience. The R2-D2 Tamagotchi is an epic collaboration to be a part of and we can’t wait to see how fans of the franchise react to this out-of-this-world device!”

The Star Wars R2-D2 themed Tamagotchis are set to arrive on November 11 this year. It will be available in two blue and one white designs, both inspired by the droid.
They will be available for pre-order starting August 2 at 9 p.m. PT and will be priced at JPY 2,530 or about Php 1,159.78.
