All systems go for Smart Omega and Blacklist International as CODM’s Garena Regional Qualifier starts Thursday
Philippine representatives Smart Omega and Blacklist International are locked and loaded for Southeast Asia’s biggest CODM event as they enter the Garena Regional Qualifier head-on this Thursday, October 7.
The two teams secured their slot in the regional meet through last month’s PH Championship, marking their status as the top 2 CODM teams in the country. They will face champion and 1st-runner up teams from Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan/Hong Kong/Macau alliance, Thailand, and Indonesia respectively.
Smart Omega, former NRX Jeremiah and the defending Garena Regional Champions from over a year ago, are placed in Group A, the so-called “group of death,” with the kings of Thailand in Sharper Esports, Singapore 5-time champions ALMGHTY, 3-time Malaysian Champions Yoodo RSG, Indonesian Champions Rimo Sadewa, as well as Raptor.DNS, 1st-runners up of Taiwan/Hong Kong/Macau.
On the other hand, Philippine Champions Blacklist International.Ultimate are slotted in Group B alongside newly crowned champions of Malaysia SEM9, Taiwan/Hong Kong/Macau champions AFN Gaming, Thailand 1st runner-up, and CODM Garena Invitational Champion WDC Freeslot, 5-time Indonesian champions DG Esports, and Singapore 1st runners-up M42 Esports.
The teams will battle each other on a round-robin point system basis with the top 4 teams from each group advancing and figuring it out in the playoffs.
Both Philippine teams see action on the 7th and 8th respectively, with Smart Omega taking on their much-heralded rivals ALMGHTY of Singapore while Blacklist opens their tournament with a tilt against WDC Freeslot of Thailand. All matches will be live streamed on Garena’s Facebook page and YouTube channel respectively.
