Bullet Hell Meets Local Creators: Good Knight x PHVTubers
The Good Knight x PHVTubers project, borne from a collaboration between developers Team Good Knight and Filipino Virtual YouTubers PHVTubers, chucked local content creators and an indie game into conventions.
Good Knight is a fast-paced rogue-lite bullet hell, and for the developers, working together with local content creators was the perfect move for them. The tie-in between the game’s developers and local VTubers began over a year ago and announced their presence with a small booth at CONQuest Festival 2022 earlier this year.

The project involved over 40 Filipino Virtual YouTubers. The booth, according to the team, received attention and sales way out of scale for their small spot.
In speaking with Esports Inquirer, Team Good Knight developer Alex Valdez thanked the community that his game has built, as well as the people who contributed to the progress. “As the Good Knight booth wouldn’t be possible if it weren’t for the Good Knight community. This wouldn’t be possible without Rarazana and Instilled Bee, who selflessly volunteered, exhausted effort, provided help and brought equipment for the booth. Rarazana is also a hard-working PHVtuber who has her own community and yet she focused on Good Knight, and really looked up for the Good Knight booth and let a lot of people play on the game. We are extremely thankful for her,” said Alex.

This then turned into Good Knight being featured on the recent REV Major, providing more exposure for the game and the VTuber talents themselves. The initial partnership involved Pan the Bread, Xelafina, Shiori Pon, Moeri, and more.
Alex hopes for this collaboration to be the spark that kicks off a new boost of morale and confidence in the VTuber community here in the Philippines.
The Good Knight x PHVTuber partnership has since ended, but a spiritual successor has emerged in the form of PHVTuber Collective. This group serves as a way for the local VTubers to continue operating as a group for events and selling merchandise online. The PHVTuber Collective is led by previous members of the initial partnership; Gupsy, Cornelia Star, Pinyapple Pie, and HachiPawsCh. Good Knight is no longer affiliated with this collective, but Alex and his team continue to support them.
On the other hand, Team Good Knight is planning more things in the future. The game is available on Steam and has just celebrated its first anniversary with a big patch adding more maps and difficulty to the “one button bullet hell.”
