Google had a game streaming service? Yes, but it’s shutting down.

Google recently announced its plans to shut down Stadia, its own game streaming service. The company plans to pull the plug on the service on January 18, 2023. Google will also refund all hardware and software purchases to all its users. All games and DLCs purchased through the Stadia store will be refunded, including purchases of the Stadia controller.
The news comes shortly after Google debunked rumors that the company would be shutting down its game streaming service.

Google said that it will be integrating the technology existing within Stadia in other parts of the company. Other Google departments will also be absorbing former Stadia employees.
Launched in mid-2020, Stadia had to compete with established gaming industry names as well as the pandemic. The product aimed to compete in the game streaming industry, with competitors such as Microsoft’s Xbox Cloud Gaming and Nvidia’s GeForce Now.
Google expects full refunds to be complete by mid-January 2023.
