Smart Omega CODM Roster 2023: The Old and the New
Philippine Call of Duty: Mobile champions Smart Omega officially released their official roster in a Facebook post earlier this week.
Led by team captain, Jerrold “Woopiiee” Regay, Smart Omega comes into the CODM Garena Masters 4 as the reigning back-to-back champions. Along with holdovers Kennedy “iDra” Mondoy, John Kenneth “KenDy” Pimentel, and Nel “R1SKY” Buemio, the CODM World Championship 2022 6th placer is primed to be one of the favorites in the tournament.
Coaching the boys are Jericho “Jericho” Ambulo and Bruce “Dev1ce” Cruz who are looking to capitalize on that Worlds experience to continue dominating the PH CODM scene.
With the departure of Rage, Kevin “Kevs” Baguio returns to the fray after being sidelined during last year’s tournaments due to age eligibility issues. Moreover, Smart Omega is adding a new brain trust in Jemvic ‘Mori’ Pingol as the team’s analyst.
But perhaps the most surprising move was the team’s acquisition of former Blacklist Ultimate player Martin “Tin” Yap. Tin, Blacklist’s main objective player and a vital part of the team’s world championship-winning squad in CODM Worlds 2021.
Furthermore, after Rage’s departure from Smart Omega, he was subsequently signed by Blacklist thereafter. This ensures the two faces who once helped their respective teams achieve glory are now on the opposite side of the spectrum.
Rage, then a Smart Omega player, is now on Blacklist Ultimate’s side. On the other hand, Tin, who was formerly with Blacklist Ultimate, is now with Smart Omega. This development will certainly add another wrinkle to the rivalry between the two powerhouses looking to claim another Garena Masters title (Blacklist was the GM1 champion while Smart Omega won GM2 and GM3, both at the expense of Blacklist).
