Asia-Pacific teams DRX and EDward Gaming (EDG) have successfully qualified for the VALORANT Champions Tour 2023: Masters Tokyo Playoffs after both teams defeated their respective opponents during the fourth day of the said tournament.

DRX booked their playoff tickets first as they were able to brush off Türkiye’s FUT Esports in the decider match for Group B. After losing the first game on Bind 9-13, DRX came back stronger and reverse-swept FUT in Fracture and Haven. The outstanding South Korean juggernauts won Fracture 13-8 thanks to Goo “Rb” Sang-min and Byung-chul “BuZz” Yu. They then put an exclamation point on the series by closing Haven 13-4, thereby leading FUT out of the tournament and rising up to claim a playoff spot through the lower bracket of Group B.

Meanwhile, EDG spelled doom for the only other South Korean team in the tournament as they beat T1 in a 2-0 sweep. Right from the start, EDG showed T1 how they beat NAVI the day prior, winning the first game on Fracture in an astonishing 13-4 scoreline. Then, EDG simply never took their foot off the gas pedal and proceeded to run over T1 in Haven 13-6 to end the series in a sweep.

With the group stage finally concluded, DRX and EDward Gaming will be joining NRG Esports, Evil Geniuses, Paper Rex, FNATIC, Team Liquid, and LOUD in the playoffs of VCT Masters Tokyo 2023. DRX is set to have a Pacific League rematch against Paper Rex while EDG will be meeting Team Liquid, both in the quarterfinals.
