ChuaN to Miss StarLadder XI, BurNIng as Stand-In
Chinese team Invictus Gaming (iG) will play with a stand-in in the Local Area Network (LAN) Finals of StarLadder (SL) XI in Kiev, Ukraine, SL said in a statement.
iG was “forced” to play with legendary player, Xu “BurNIng” Zhilei, for the LAN Finals with Wong “ChuaN” Hock missing the event, it said.
“One of Chinese teams, iG, will take a stand-in to play finals. Instead of Chuan, team was forced to take legendary Chinese player, Burning as fifth player,” SL wrote.
In a Dec. 20 Facebook post by iG, it said that they will not play with any substitutes anymore “since ChuaN [was] back”.
“Guys, Burning was only replacing ChuaN for the StarLadder qualifications. Since ChuaN is back now, we will not use any [stand-in] anymore,” it said.
The statement did not disclose the reason behind ChuaN’s absence.
Notably, BurNIng decided to retire right after The International (TI) 4. However, in the recent weeks, he has been playing as a stand-in for Chinese teams such as iG. He was part of Team DK which grabbed the StarLadder IX title earlier this year.
