Celebrity Showmatch raises P69,000 for Generation Hope

August 2, 2017 Migg Dela Cruz

WORLD TRADE CENTER, Pasay City – One of the main attractions of Garena’s annual Rampage event is the Celebrity Showmatch. Now on its second year, the Celebrity Showmatch is exactly that; your favorite Pinoy celebrities duke it out on Summoner’s Rift.

This year, Garena partnered with Generation Hope, a charity that helps build classrooms for public schools. With their Hope In A Bottle Foundation, they link up with retail partners to sell bottled water and 100 percent of the proceeds go into funding for classrooms.

The Celebrity Showmatch performance also made a huge contribution for Generation Hope. In the game, for every kill, P1,000 will be added to the donation. For every Dragon and Baron takedown, P5,000 and P10,000 will be added.

Four celebrities make their return to the Celebrity Showmatch stage from last year. Model/actor Jack Reid and internet sensation Emman Nimedez make up Team Sapphire, along with singer Sam Concepcion, Riot Spiffy, and Sachzna Laparan. Former Rugby Union star and TV show host Eric “Eruption” Tai and cosplay star and singer Ashley Gosiengfiao also make their return, teaming up with Goin’ Bulilit alum Izzy Canillo, actor CJ Navato, and rapper Sinio Cagasan to form Team Ruby.

After an entertaining 36-minute battle Team Sapphire bested Team Ruby 31-23 to win this year’s Celebrity Showmatch. Along with Sapphire’s 2 Ocean Drakes and Ruby’s Infernal Drake, the celebs raised a whopping P69,000 for Generation Hope and public school classrooms.
