On the 14th day of VALORANT Champions 2022, LOUD managed to take down and sweep OpTic 2-0 in the upper-bracket final while DRX eliminated FunPlus Phoenix from the tournament via a 2-0 sweep in the lower bracket.

The Green Walls Battle It Out

It was LOUD who punched their ticket first to the grand finals after an impressive 2-0 sweep against North America’s current best team OpTic.

In a highly contested Game 1, LOUD took Bind away from OpTic as they won it 13-10. LOUD started slowly as they lost four of the first five rounds. Fortunately for LOUD, the two teams were pretty even on this map as both teams were tied by halftime. With a fresh start at the second half, LOUD then proceeded to win more rounds from OpTic and eventually ended the game at Round 23 before the game had the chance to go to overtime.

With momentum on their side, LOUD stomped OpTic in Game 2 at Ascent 13-3. LOUD wasted no time racking round wins in the first half as it eventually ended with a 9-3 score in their favor. From there, a quick 4-round win streak from LOUD as the defenders was enough for the Brazilians to win the game and book their ticket to the grand finals.

Bryan “pancada” Luna led the team throughout this series as he posted a 35/20/20 series KDA. Not far behind were Erick “aspas” Santos and Felipe “Less” de Loyola who each posted 32/29/9 and 31/20/9 series KDAs respectively.

DRX Continues Their Winning Trajectory

Free from their playoffs curse, DRX continued their winning trajectory as they took down and eliminated EMEA’s FPX in a clean 2-0 sweep.

DRX’s first game on Icebox ended in a 13-11 win against FPX. After losing the first two rounds of the game, DRX converted their buy-round win into a five-round win streak to eventually close the half 7-5 in their favor. However, FPX carried over their first-half momentum in the second half which allowed the EMEA team to reach double digits first. Fortunately, DRX recomposed themselves and won Round 20 which led to yet another five-round win streak to win the game.

Meanwhile, DRX’s Game 2 against FPX on Haven saw the South Korean team climb out of a 9-3 deficit. DRX fell hard in the first half of the game as FPX’s trio of Ardis “ardiis” Svarenieks, Dmitry “SUYGETSU” Ilyushin, and Pontus “Zyppan” Eek posted double-digit kills. Fortunately, DRX managed to take the last round of the first half and translated it into an epic 11-round comeback win streak to win the game and the series.

Both Kim “MaKo” Myeong-gwan and Yu “Buzz” Byung-chul had phenomenal performances they recorded 45/30/21 and 44/31/8 series KDAs, respectively.

With the day’s conclusion, DRX and OpTic Gaming will be facing each other at the lower bracket finals to determine who will face LOUD at the grand finals of Champions 2022.
