Babycakes or The K.ONecction? All about Team Liquid’s new duo KarlTzy, Oheb
Team Liquid recently acquired gold lane superstar Kiel “Oheb” Soriano, seeking redemption in the local Mobile Legends: Bang Bang scene.
At first, there was doubt that the matchup could work, given the impression that Oheb and fellow superstar Karl “KarlTzy” Nepomuceno both have strong personalities. But KarlTzy believes he fits the team like a glove.
“Pagkatry-out po kasi sa amin, parang feeling ko po nag-click yung team. Kasi madalas po kapag may try-out, may jitters pa. Pero para sa akin, parang matagal na namin siyang (Oheb) kakampi,” KarlTzy said ahead of MPL Season 15.
(When Oheb tried out, we felt like the team clicked. Because there are often jitters for other people who also tried out. But for me, it feels as if we’ve been teammates for a long time.)
Chemistry-wise, KarlTzy believes Oheb is easy-going, which fits a predominantly young team like Team Liquid.
“Ang saya niya kasi kasama, good vibes lang siya lagi tapos di kami nagkakapikunan,” KarlTzy shared.
(He is fun to be with, there are good vibes, and the mood isn’t tense all the time.)
It seemed to pay off for the Cavalry, which swept the last couple of weeks with a 4-0 win-loss record and an 8-1 match record, only dropping one match against Smart Omega in Week 2 of the MPL for the top seed.
Asked what Oheb thinks about his teammates so far, he said he was looking forward to the future.
“Tingin ko so far so good namain parang okay pa naman ngayong week 2,” he said, before jokingly adding: “Tingnan natin sa week 3.”
(I think so far so good, it’s been okay for week 2. Let’s see what happens in week 3.)
Liquid is keeping one eye open
Despite this, Team Liquid PH is keeping its eyes peeled, with an upcoming match against reigning world champions Onic Philippines serving as a litmus test for what the Cavalry is capable of.
“Naeexcite lang ako kasi simula ng Liquid ako gusto ko makalaban ang Onic eh. Siguro kasi sila ang defending champs tapos gusto ko matesting ang lakas ng team namin na makalaban ang high-caliber teams,” Oheb shared.
(I’m excited because since I moved to Team Liquid, I wanted to battle Onic, because they’re the world champs and I want to see how far our team goes against high-caliber teams.)
