SIBOL Women’s MLBB takes Silver in 32nd SEA Games
SIBOL’s Women’s Mobile Legends: Bang Bang team took the silver medal in the 32nd Southeast Asian Games after falling short against Indonesia 3-2 in the grand finals.
The SIBOL Women’s MLBB squad is composed of Smart Omega Empress players Kaye “Keishi” Alpuerto, Rica “Amoree” Amores, Sheen “Shinoa” Perez, Mery “Meraaay” Vivero, and Gwen “Not Ayanami” Diagon plus ZOL Eastcreek’s Alexandra Dardo and Smart Omega Empress coach Abraham “Coach Bam” Unida.
The SIBOL Women’s MLBB team started their SEA Games journey in Cambodia with a record of one win and one loss, winning against host country Cambodia and losing to Indonesia. In the semifinals, they met the representatives of Malaysia and swept them 2-0 in their matchup.
With a grand finals rematch, SIBOL Women’s MLBB team lost the first game of the best-of-5 series but was able to rebound and get the succeeding two games for themselves. Unfortunately, they still lost to Indonesia as the undisputed best women’s team of the tournament took the last two games of the series to take the gold medal.
SIBOL Women’s MLBB’s silver medal marks the first silver medal for SIBOL in esports for SEA Games 2023 as the organization has already secured one gold from League of Legends: Wild Rift and two bronze medals from CrossFire and VALORANT.
