Despite being only a demonstration sport, the appearance of MLBB in the 12th ASEAN Para Games marks the first time esports was featured in the ASEAN Para Games.

The Filipino MLBB delegates dominated the 12th ASEAN Para Games by going undefeated in the entire tournament. To start, they beat the representatives of Cambodia, Thailand, and Malaysia via 2-0 sweeps during the tournament’s group stage. In the playoffs, they met Thailand again in the semifinals where they once again swept them in two games. In the grand final, they faced Malaysia once more and took the gold by going 3-0 to win the best-of-5 series.

Securing the gold medal in the first-ever appearance of MLBB in the ASEAN Para Games marks the continued international dominance of the Philippines in major tournaments. Just last month, both of SIBOL’s Men and Women’s representatives secured medal finishes for the country, with the Men’s team securing gold while the Women’s team went home with silver. Concurrently, the Philippines is also the reigning region in both the MSC and M-series tournaments, with RSG PH claiming last year’s MSC title while ECHO Philippines is the current world champion.
